FLL Explore Expo

IT ALL STARTED IN 2012…

In 2022, we mentored 15 FLL Explore teams. We run weekly sessions from September all the way through December where we mentored teams on the brainstorm, build, and presentation aspects of FLL Explore. The Robostangs run an annual FLL Explore Expo at the end of the program. This year, 35 teams participated, including over 201 students from all over Michigan. At the event, we displayed robots from FLL Challenge, FTC, and FRC. In addition to presenting their models, the kids participated in hands-on STEM activities.

At this event, the students presented their creations to a group of judges and received awards. Additionally, we had fun activities for them to participate in such as STEM activities centered around energy. Additionally, we allowed the students to experience our entire pipeline program, as we had robots from FLL, FTC, and FRC at the expo. The students were able to see these robots in action and experience what their future held in FIRST.

Building our pipeline, FLL Explore has served as an enriching opportunity for young individuals to immerse themselves into the world of STEM. The primary initiative of the program revolves around the application of STEM principles through highly-curated core lessons for 3rd to 5th graders. With the purpose of growing self-interest and collaborative skills, the Northville Robostangs followed FLL Explore’s theme this year: Energy.
