First Lego League (FLL) introduces upper elementary and middle school students to real world engineering challenges. Students build LEGO robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing field. FLL teams, guided by their adult mentors and coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.
In FLL, students learn how to design, build, program, and test robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology. They apply real-world math and science concepts to complete their robot. Much like in other branches of FIRST, students acquire critical thinking, team-building, and presentation skills. Each FLL competition features a presentation in which students demonstrate these skills.
