FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is the last step in the progression of the FIRST program. This is the competition in which the Northville Robostangs participate. FRC combines the competitiveness of sports with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, the team is challenged to build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. The experience is similar to practical modern engineering. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.
This year's FRC game is Steamworks. This year's event is a steamship themed game played by two Alliances of three robots each. Points are awarded for shooting balls into a target, collecting gears, and climbing up a rope.
