The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a program focused on engaging middle school students in the STEM field. FTC teaches students the value of hard work, innovation and creativity. It goes beyond competition by teaching students the importance of working together, sharing ideas, and gracious professionalism
FTC offers students the opportunity to advance beyond the scope of building LEGO robots. Students learn to build a robot out of real mechanical parts, program it in real coding languages, design it using computer assisted design (CAD), and compete against other teams. FTC teams compete on a local, regional, and national level. Students gain practical hands-on skills that test the theories and concepts taught in the classroom. There are currently 20,000 students that participate and compete against each other in FTC competitions.
